FACC handicap race #1 sees the club K4 1st over the line by a shave over Shay

Freaking awesome weather greeted the 1st FACC handicap race for the year. Whilst it was a small field due to the long weekend, and Mick not being able to back up after the 24km ocean race yesterday ;), those who raced had a great time.

Results were:

1st – 49:55, K4 – Chris de Luis, empty, Annette Scott, Stew Nicol (K3?)
2nd – 49:56, K1 – Shay Mc Leod. Shay’s new PB! Congrats.
3rd – 58:00, K1 – Gerard Oman
4th – 47:30, K1 – George Bradilovic
5th – 66:00, TK1 – Nadine Harrington
6th – 78:00, SKS1 – Steve Fryer. And another PB!

Handicap races are scheduled throughout the year, are raced over 10kms, usually on a Sun morning, and are open to all members and guests. Since it’s a handicap it matters not how good you are against others, but how good you are against yourself. Handicap races cost nothing and are a great way of improving on your times without the formalities of a race. There just that extra incentive when someone is chasing you up to the line…
