Close competition for FACC handicap race #2

Sunday 1 March saw handicap race #2 for the year. Nearly twice as many paddlers stared down Stew’s stopwatch and clipboard for the usual staggered start and close finish!

Results were:

2nd – 62:30, TK1 – Trent Schmidt
3rd – 47:00, K1 – Dominic Scarfe
4th – 57:03, K1 – Gerard Oman
5th – 46:50, K1 – George Bradilovic. NEW RECORD for K1V35/45
6th – 49:03, K4 – Chris de Luis, Annette Scott, Gayle Burke and Stew Nicol. NEW RECORD for K4XO!
7th – 49:57, K1 – Mick Donovan
8th – 54:15, K1 – Peter Pelns
9th – 51:03, K1 – Shay McLeod
10th – Steve fryer, SKS1 – 80:00

Handicap races are scheduled throughout the year, are raced over 10kms, usually on a Sun morning, and are open to all members and guests. Since it’s a handicap it matters not how good you are against others, but how good you are against yourself. Handicap races cost nothing and are a great way of improving on your times without the formalities of a race. There just that extra incentive when someone is chasing you up to the line…
