Updated race information here

Race held Sunday 19 September 2010

K4 Challenge

A K4 sprint over 8kms. There’s not many events in Victoria where the K4’s are dusted off, so why not grab a team and aim for Footscray’s first ever cash prize. $100 goes to the winning team.

Race starts at 0930 and is over 8kms. Just enough to freshen you up for the next race…

Ted Pace Handicap race

This is a completely new format for the Victorian marathon scene. The race is not limited by classes, where you only sometimes get a few competitors. This time, it’s every paddler against each other. Paddlers are handicapped based on canoe type, age group and gender. The handicaps are calculated based on past results. If you’re interested in knowing more about how this is worked out, more info will be added to this page in the next couple of days. What does it all mean? It means that potentially anyone could win this race. Winning prize is $50. But it’s not about the money.

Entry

Enter either or both races as you wish. Race costs are the usual: $15 adults, $10 juniors, $3 sub-juniors per race. Additional fees apply to non-AC members and for those who register and/or pay on the day.

UPDATE 17 Sep: Online payment closed midnight Thu 16 Sep. Late entries now accepted online up until 5PM Sat 18 Sep, but payment must be made on the day, which incurs an additional $5.

Location

Maribyrnong River, starting and finishing at Footscray Canoe Club.

Food and Amenities

Footscray’s usual BBQ, pasta, drinks, espresso coffee and the like will be on sale as usual.

Toilets, warm showers and car parking all on-site. Plus there’s a walking track along the entire course, so if you’re not paddling, bring your bike and cheer along your mates.
